Asian stocks were mixed before Christmas

Asian stocks were mixed on Tuesday, with Hong Kong and Australia’s markets closing earlier ahead of the Christmas holiday on Wednesday.

The mainland Chinese markets finished today’s session mixed. The Shanghai Composite rose by 0.67 percent to close at 2,982.68 supported by gains in Basic Materials, Technology, and Consumer Cyclicals.

Furthermore, Hong Kong’s main index Hang Seng was little changed on Tuesday and finished the session at 27,864.21.

South Korea's main index (Kospi) drop-down by 0.62 percent on Tuesday and settled at 2,190.08. Dragged by the loses in the Healthcare and Technology sectors.


Japanese Stock Market:

Japanese stocks edged higher on Tuesday, as the primary index NIKKEI 225 rose by 0.04 percent to end the session at 23830.58, boosted by the significant gains in Energy and Technology sectors.

In stock news, Taiyo Yuden Co Ltd was the best performer in today’s trading session as its stock rose by 2.52 percent, while Seiko Epson Crop was the worst performer and finished the session lower by 2.53 percent.

In the Forex pace, the Japanese Yen strengthened against the Greenback and traded at 109.395 at 10:00 GMT.


Australian Stock Market:

Australia’s S&P/ASX200 index rose on Tuesday and finished the session at 6,794.200, supported by the gains in Healthcare, Energy, and Basic Materials.

In stock news, Gold Road Resources Ltd was the best performer of the session as the share jumped 7.66 percent. On the other hand, Vocus Group Ltd was the worst performer and finished the session lower by 2.64 percent.

In the Forex space, the Aussie overpowered the U.S. Dollar counterpart and traded at 0.69170 at 10:00 GMT.
